(a bit of color)

I haven't forgotten you all.
Just busy with the kitchen reno.
I went outside this morning, looking for something to share with you.
I found this lonely little posy poking its head up from the brown.
A bit of color.
A gift for today.

I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.

Two of our little chicks were here this morning.
We read lots of books, did a bit of coloring and ate yummy snacks!
This Mimi has a happy face.

(bunny)

Jessica found this at TJM*xx the other day.
So cute.
Her co-worker adores rabbits, so she had to buy it for her.
Jessica used to collect rabbits when she was a young girl.
It was an easy decision.

(spring journal)

Another video.
This time, I am sharing the inside of this springy looking journal.
You may remember it.
The colors are bright and happy...like the spring days we have been enjoying this week.
It is my third Remains of the Day style journal.
Must give credit to Mary Ann for the inspiration.

(reno mess)

Everything from my cupboards is loaded on and under two tables in the dining room.
OY!

Such a mess!
Tis a necessary process when renovating a kitchen.
I would say that we are about 2/3 done.
The worst of it is over.
Painting, flooring and putsy stuff remain.

I am sooooo ready to do a major-top-to-bottom-house-cleaning!
It is partly the reno and partly the nice weather we are having.
The weather forecast is calling for temperatures in the 70s tomorrow.
I think I will start with the windows.
They need attention.
It will be nice to let in the fresh air!

::::

Glad you enjoyed the journal video.
You may have noticed that I have added a reply feature to the comments.
I try to respond to my comments, but some of you do not have an email listed.
This way....I can at least acknowledge those commenters.

My first video ever....

Must have been nervous. I noticed my left pinky was a bit jittery.

:)

ETA:

Yes, I plan to write in this one.

Eventually....

Pink sky at morning,

Happy Monday morning, my dears.

(the play)

Scene from The Life of George Washington

What fun to watch our littles in a play!
*the little guy with brown hair and the taller blonde girl right next to him*
Right afterward, our granddaughter ran up to us and hugged us tightly saying, "Oh Mimi, that was SO much fun!"

It was fun.

Nice "wigs", eh?

(signatures)

I worked on these most of yesterday.
I used all sorts of paper, magazine cut-outs, paint chips...you name it.
I still have a little more tweaking to do.

The next step will be binding the pages into the journal.
I would like to try to do a video of the pages when finished.
We shall see.
That is uncharted territory for me.
If I am successful, I will post it.

::::

Two of our littles are performing in a play this evening.
That should be fun.
We are looking forward to it.

Thinking of our son in law and oldest grandson this morning.
They are flying to Belize for a 10 day missions trip.
This is our grandson's first missions trip out of the country.
He is very excited.
Happy for him.

Have a nice weekend, my dears.

(another journal cover)

~journal closed~

This one will have pages that measure 6x6 inches.
Smaller than the 6x9 inch Remember When journal.
I tend to like the smaller size a bit better.

~journal lining~

I did the feather stitching to cover stitches from adding my fave-mother-of-pearl-buttons on the front.
Bothered me, so that was my fix-me-up for that issue.

~journal back~

The cover was made from drop cloth fabric and an upholstery sample.
The lace panels were cut from a tablecloth remnant (?).
The lining is from a fat quarter I had in the stash.
Love the colors in that.

You know...I could make these all day long.
I really could.
They feed my need to create.

Anyway.....
I haven't begun the signatures on the RW journal nor this one.
I am using watercolor papers and card stock.
Still deciding whether or not to paint them first, before adding all the "stuff".
I have a big box of papers/labels/pretties, etc... (stuff) that I am looking forward to playing with...to add to the pages before they are ready for actual journaling.

::::

My littles are here today.
Mama is going to the doctor every two weeks now.
They have had cookies and milk and are now watching some story book videos back in the dawdi haus with Auntie J.

::::

The hubs is busy working on our kitchen reno.
Did I mention that?
Been working on it since early February.
Our original kitchen measured a mere 9x11 feet.
We took a wall out between the kitchen and the office to give us more space.
Think I will like this.
I know we will wish we had done it sooner!!!
I'll show you some before and after photos when we finish.
It may be a little while...hopefully done by May.
Rachel and family will be coming for a few days.
That is the goal.

::::

Hope you are having a nice Tuesday!

(journal cover)

Taking the lead from EmilyF, I am doing a Remember When journal.
This is the cover I made for it.
I was clicking around youtube and found a video tutorial on easy journal covers made from upholstery samples.
Had to try one.
I intend to make more and incorporate some of the Remains of the Day elements.
Especially the wrap closure and the signature ideas from R-o-D.
The sigs are still in process for this particular journal.
Lots of fun!

Having a nice weekend?
Hope so!

(ready for spring)

How about you?
Have you begun to bring out the springtime decorations?
