(taking it down)

The cookies are almost gone, the rubbish (our word for candy) has been devoured by the big kids, the rich foods in the frig have been replaced with bunny food and all the decorations have been taken down and put away for another year.
The tree is last.
The hubs is taking the lights off the pre-lit tree.
What a process!
After seven years, the lights were beginning to go out.
Better to do it now rather than next year.

Just wondering...
Do you take your tree down right after Christmas or do you enjoy it into January?
Do tell.

  1. Our tree is still up but it is coming down very soon. I haven't plugged it in since Christmas Day, so there's no sense in having it up! After having it up for almost a month I'm ready for more space in my living room!

I like your word for candy! LOL The rubbish isn't gone yet, but too much has settled on my hips. ;-)

  2. Plopping down exhausted in front of my computer after packing it all away today. Jill and family left this morning ~ laundry, vacuuming, scrubbing almost done...

The tree and decorations have been up since the beginning of the month and we loved it all but now on to a clean, clear January :)

Happy New Year to you and yours!

  3. We have a tradition that it goes up the first Sat in December and down after the 1st... try to enjoy it as long as we can! But there is something so refreshing about the first day with everything clean and put away!

I have been slowly taking everything off our tree as the boys nap. The only things left are the star and a few fragile ornaments that will need special packing. Dustin and I will take it down this weekend when he is home from work.

  5. When I was growing up, we always took our tree down immediately after Christmas. "It's over, get it all cleaned up and put away" was our motto. I carried that thinking into our marriage. However, my husband likes to have the tree still up every year on his b'day, which is the 30th. This year we're having dinner guests come tonight on the 31st...so that means we won't be cleaning up this weekend either. We'll keep everything up until Monday Jan 2nd this year. As much as I love everything about Christmas, it will be good to be back to normal. Happy New Year, Dawn!

  6. In my mind, I would love to keep it up after the New Year, however, that never seems to happen. Just finished putting everything away yesterday. How strange and empty things seem now!

    Happy New Year, Dawn!

  8. I always leave mine for the twelve days of Christmas, till the 6th January. My husband always says to leave it, he loves all the Christmas things around. I know someone who has her tree on a base with wheels and a very big tall cupboard; each year she wheels it out, all decorated, then wheels it away again, decorations and all!
